I just loved the brightly painted and decorated trucks and buses in Nepal. They would be highly ornamented, painted and festooned with regala, often with a deity or god like Shiva. Heading to Kathmandu from Gorkha I saw this truck. Check out the sign on the back, Smile Horn! Often times the horn is a type of communication. In the US we think “someone is honking at me”, in Nepal, Vietnam, parts of Latin America and many other places it means more like, “ I am here, watch for me”, or “please move”. Check out more photos from Nepal here. The flower garland was an elaborate blessing given to me by the wonderful people in Paslang, where GIVE volunteers helped rebuild homes destroyed by an earthquake a few years before. A group of volunteers raised money to build a small women’s center in Paslang.
