Chiang Mai is a fantastic city. Large enough for an international airport, and virtually every modern convenance. But it retains a smaller town feel. Especially in the old town where most things are a short walk or taxi ride away. Fabulous temples and monasteries abound. Buddhism is the predominant religion, and it is apparent in most aspects of Thai life. A beautiful, friendly, polite, people, they greet you with a gentle bow, and a engaging smile. Tourism is very popular, and with the fabulous weather, gorgeous landscapes, friendly people, and very low cost of living, it is no surprise.
