Paslang, Nepal

My good friend Rey Jaffet and I traveled to Paslang with GIVE – Growth International Volunteer Excursions. GIVE was working in Paslang building homes for people in the community that lost their homes in the earthquake of 2015. Most of the people had been living in temporary shelters until their home was built. Many of the homes had been completed, just a few more to have the village complete. Colette and I, along with friends and the support of Ximena Prelle at Bodhiyogastudios.com held a fundraiser. It raised enough to build a small Women’s Center in Paslang.

Rey is a fabulous artist. He was painting a mural on the Paslang Community Center. In memory of his good friend and my son Jonathan. It was a fabulous work of art and really made the people of Paslang proud.

Paslang is a fabulous town. The cooking training will allow the families to have tourist come for home stays, and they can offer some western food with a Paslang, Gorkha twist. The French Fries were some of the best I ever had, with fresh yellow or gold potatoes, lightly fried. All of the food was tasty, most of it was vegetarian. At least they always had a vegan option for me!
