Sa Pa is a tourist town, originally used by Vietnamese Royalty and later the ruling French. We used it to visit the more remote Bac Ha, a terrific market town.
Sa Pa is a stepping off place for trekkers and a holiday city for Vietnamese and Chinese tourists.
