Laos is a stunningly beautiful country, friendly people, excellent food. Having all of the fresh Asian fruits and vegetables. Think Thai food, plus throw in a bit of refined French Cuisine influence. There is always a small, silver lining to Colonialism. They have even turned the USA bombs into bracelets. Laos has the unfortunate distinction to be the most bombed country in the world. Collateral damage to the Vietnam – American War, with the USA dumping a huge amount of bombs into ill-fated Laos. A strong Buddhist influence permeates the country, giving a calm, gentle feel. A Socialistic state, it is not a wealthy country by any means. However the people seem happy, and there seemed an abundance of food and smiles.
